Former UN chief Kofi Annan dies at 80

Kofi Annan, the only black African to become UN secretary-general, has died.
The 80-year-old "passed away peacefully on Saturday after a short illness", the foundation named after him said.
His home country, Ghana, has declared a week of national mourning. Annan served two terms as UN chief from 1997 to 2006, and was awarded a Nobel Peace Prize for his humanitarian wor    [More....]


Zardari's non-bailable arrest warrants issued by Karachi banking court: report

A banking court in Karachi on Friday issued non-bailable warrants of arrest against PPP co-chairman and former president Asif Ali Zardari in the fake bank accounts scam case, Radio Pakistan reported.
While hearing a case relating to the money laundering probe, the court directed authorities to present Zardari and other suspects before it by September 4.

Kabul bomber kills 48 in tuition centre

Forty-eight people have been killed and 67 injured in a bomb explosion at an education centre in Afghanistan's capital, Kabul, the country's health ministry says.
Police say a suicide bomber walked into the centre while teaching was under way and detonated his bomb belt.
