Age limit for appearing in 9th class exam challenged


09/05/18   LAHORE -The Nation: The Lahore High Court yesterday issued notice to the Punjab education secretary in a petition filed by a girl student against limit of 12 years age for the students appearing in 9th class examination.
Justice Shahid Karim of LHC heard the case and adjourned further hearing until May 6.
Petitioner Raeesa Hafeez counsel said that the board was not allowing her to appear in exam as her age was less than 12 years. He said that this restriction was unjust and violation of the constitution as no one could be deprived from getting education.
He requested to declare violation of fundamental right and should be declared as null and void.
Meanwhile, a writ petition was filed in the Lahore High Court seeking directions to Election Commission of Pakistan to make public details of assets owned by all parliamentarians.
A lawyer petitioner Azhar Siddique filed the petition and submitted that public representatives were sitting in assemblies and senate and their voters have every right to know about the assets details.
He stated that ECP was duty bound to keep within public approach the all details of assets owned by their representatives. Meanwhile, a civil miscellaneous application was filed before the LHC requesting early hearing of petitions filed against PTI sit in outside residence of PM in Jati umra. Munsif Awan had challenged the stance of PTI of holding protest in Jati Umra.
