Policeman martyred after vehicle comes under attack in Quetta


08/03/18   QUETTA: One policeman martyred and other constable sustained bullet injures on Wednesday morning after unknown armed men opened indiscriminate firing on police force guarding Hazaras vegetable vendors in Hazar Ganji.
Quetta Police remained under consecutive terror attacks in the provincial capital as terrorists intensified police killings from more than a year.
On Wednesday morning Quetta Police’s three patrolling mobiles and an Armored Personnel Carrier (APC) were standing outside the Vegetable Market of Hazar Ganji the outskirts of the provincial capital when terrorists attacked.
“Two policeman were busy in breakfast outside the APC when terrorists riding on bike opened firing on them and managed to flee the crime scene.” DIG Quetta Abdul Razaq Cheema said and added one Policeman named Qadir Buksh martyred on the spot and other sustained bullet injuries.
Rescue workers and heavy contingent of law enforcement agencies rushed the spot and shifted the injured and deceased to Civil Hospital for autopsy.
The policemen were deployed to guard Hazara vegetable vendors often visits Hazar Ganji’s vegetable market.
“The routine practice we have been following from more than a year to guard Hazara vendors, but following the sensitization of threats posing on Police Force, our forces need to be more keen during duty time.” Abdul Razaq Cheema added.
Terrorists including TTP with its linked armed groups have intensified attacks on Security personnel. On Tuesday night armed men shot dead Traffic Policeman in Qandhari Bazaar one of most busting areas of Quetta.
Corroborating recent surge in Police Target Killings DIG Cheema said, despite serious threats for Police Force, we have been taking preventing measure to track-down terrorists attacking police,
“Despite so many challenges our forces are busy in routine policing and guarding the public, we have been taking help from Law Enforcement Agencies as well and optimistic that soon these attackers will be hunt down.”
Lamenting on lack of community help in tracing target killers DIG Cheema said, we have urged the local shop owners to install CCTV Cameras in the market, yet they have responded, “Frontier Corps has installed some CCTV cameras but we need local support as well.”
So far no group claimed responsibility of the attack till the file was reported. Police forces have cordoned-off the area and hunt for the perpetrators of the attack is underway.
